I bought a beginner telescope because I wanted to learn more about the night sky.
One cold evening, I was looking at Jupiter. I had seen it before, but that night there was something next to it that I could not identify.
It looked like a small dark object, almost perfectly round, moving slowly across the view.
At first I thought it was dust on the lens. I cleaned everything and looked again.
It was still there.
I checked astronomy apps and websites to see if a moon or satellite should be in that position, but nothing matched. The object moved in a straight line, then stopped.
That is the part I cannot explain.
It stopped.
After a few seconds, it moved backward and disappeared from view.
I told a local astronomy group, and someone said it was probably a satellite.
Maybe it was.
But I have never heard of a satellite stopping and reversing beside Jupiter.
